Thanksgiving Wear: Dress It Up or Dress It Down

Sara B from Glitter and Grace and I had such a good time collaborating on How to Wear Denim on Denim, that we decided we needed to do it again. Since Sara has such an amazing collection of party dresses I knew it’d be perfect to create a dressed up and down Thanksgiving themed post. So, if you’re at a loss as to what to wear this Thursday you can narrow down your options by asking yourself, “Is my soiree a dress it up or dress it down event?”

Sara’s beautiful jewel tone frock and leopard sweater are perfect for a fanciful dinner with families and friends. She did an awesome job at re-purposing this dress by wearing a leopard sweater over her dress. All she did was fold up the bottom half and belt it, and it was a whole new holiday outfit. Ladies I’d keep this tactic in mind when dressing for the holiday’s. Make sure you pick up some pieces that you can layer with to mix and match your options.

My go to dressed down holiday look always, ALWAYS involves a plaid print of some sorts. Make it red or green and hello you’re set. I opted for my favorite J.Crew Tartan print button up, comfy boyfriend jeans and my taupe puffer vest. Throwing some variation of these three pieces together guarantees you’ll be looking chic and be comfortable all at the same time. Whether you’re casually celebrating with your family, or you can’t make it home for the holidays and are attending a Friendsgiving, plaid, a puffer and denim always work.

Make sure you head over to Glitter and Grace to see her complete look! P.S she took these fabulous photos!

Plaid + Billy’s Bakery

Words cannot describe how excited I was to finally wear my plaid tunic and quilted vest! So lame I know, but it had been so hot in California I was looking forward to getting my Fall on. CK took these photos of me against this fun graffiti wall near the Highline right after we picked up some sweet treats from Billy’s Bakery in Chelsea. Unfortunately yours truly is still a huge gossip aficionado (I’ve tried to fight the addiction unsuccessfully , so I was quite aware of the fact that it’s Katie Holmes’ favorite bakery and was semi-bummed we didn’t catch a glimpse of fierce Siri. But, I guess it’s for the better, I’m sure Siri would have made me cry after she gave me and my outfit the once over.

Transitioning into a Fall/Summer Night

Flannel: Urban Outfitters | Denim Cut Off Shorts: DIY Levi’s Jeans | Green Pumps: H&M

We’re still experiencing quite a bit of heat, but I must admit it’s starting to cool off a tad bit more than it was last week in the evenings. It’s still warm enough to show some bare leg, but cool enough to incorporate a colorful Fall flannel button up. I combined the two and added in a pair of green H&M pumps to complete a look that would make for a perfect evening BBQ or casual date night outfit. The perfect mix of Fall and Summer to make the transition into Fall weather both fun, chic and comfortable!

Motivated and Inspired, these two words pretty much sum up how I have felt the last 7 days. We recently launched our new service to our sales team, and I could not be more pleased with the reception we’ve received thus far. I’ll make sure to share some more details as soon as we are completed with the service’s new website! I have been carrying over some of the same planning and structural methodologies I used to execute the launch of our new website to get this blog where I want it to be. Photo #1 in this round-up will be my ongoing mantra for the rest of 2012!
