The Big Apple

Shirt: H&M (similar) | Shorts: Anthropologie | Boots: Steve Madden

Last weekend I was lucky enough to make it out to the Big Apple to visit CK during her first week in NYC. And obvi, she’s completely loving living in the city! We took the subway down to the Brooklyn Bridge and spent the weekend frequenting oh so many touristy spots. I’m sure if you follow along in Instagram your feed was blown up with pictures from NYC (sorry about that).

Now that she’s in NYC The Kina’s are bi-coastal, so you’ll get a mix of both the beachy and city backdrops Orange County and Manhattan have to offer! Hope you all have a lovely TGIF!

[The Look] Red, White and Blue All Summer Long

Chambray Button Up and Red, White and Blue Jumper: Forever 21 | Lace-Up Boots: Steve Madden (similar) | J.Crew Edie Purse

Carolina’s 4th of July outfit incorporated shades of Red, White and Blue in a print that could be worn all Summer long. The Forever 21 jumper, paired with a chambray button up and lace-up boots give this outfit a cool, calm and collected Summer feel.

Since it’s TGIF we’ll be linking up with Friday Fancies with Long Distance Loving!

Black and White Edge | Downtown LA Street Style

White T-Shirt | Forever 21 Black Skinny Jeans | Urban Outfitters Black Wedge Booties (similar) | J.Crew Edie Purse in Red

It’s been a while since CK’s last outfit post, but I think these photos have been worth the wait. I love how edgy and chic CK looks in these photos against the gritty Downtown LA backdrop. The simple white tee paired with the black skinnies and black booties give this simple look an immense amount of edge. One of my favorite things about my sister is her style, she always manages to put her own spin on even the most simple looks. How do you all prefer to rock the white tee?

We spent most of Saturday exploring Downtown LA and it was both a relaxing and eventful day. I promise we’ll share some more photos of what we did tomorrow!

Anthropologie Spring Trends

This past weekend CK’s (Carolina) Fashion Island Anthropologie store had a fashion show showcasing this Spring’s trends. The show was bittersweet for my mom and I, because this is CK’s last week at Anthropologie – which means bye bye amazing discount. So in honor of CK’s last hoorah at Anthropologie, we’re dedicating today and tomorrow’s posts to the Newport Beach’s store favorite Spring trends.

CK (left) and her co-worker Kathryn modeled the Peplum and Hi-Lo trends of Spring together, much like they did at the BHLDN fashion show. Keep scrolling to see how you can get their looks via the Anthropologie website.

The CK Files – St. Patrick’s in San Fran

This past weekend I (CK) ventured up to San Francisco to visit my best friend. It also happened to be the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day, which meant I had to pack some green with me. This funky fresh outfit was created around the AG green pants I purchased when I first started working at Anthropologie. I knew I wanted to be comfortable enough to walk around the city but still have that edgy feel, which is why I chose the leather jacket to top off the outfit. I went with colors, an eccentric clash of accessories and a comfy wedge that would carry me around the city. Hope everyone had a fun St. Patrick’s Day weekend!

THE ART at The LA Art Show

The ART. It was our first time attending the LA Art Show and we were not disappointed. There were amazing pieces of contemporary and modern art from galleries all over the world. So, of course I got super excited by all the pieces on display and I freaking started snapping away like a crazy person. I didn’t use my camera (I thought they wouldn’t allow photos, but they did), so all this shots are from my beloved iPhone. And, I was so in awe I didn’t remember to write down the artists name to reference when I posted the photos on the blog – I wish I had so you could all look up more of their work, so sorry!

Jacket & Dress – Anthropologie, Scarf – H&M, Belt – Ted Baker, Earrings – Nordstrom, Watch – Michael Kors, Purse – J. Crew Edie, Shoes – Steve Madden

The LA Art Show. This past Saturday BK and I headed up to Downtown LA and walked around the annual LA Art Show. There were so many different pieces of modern and contemporary art from galleries all over the world. We spent hours walking around aimlessly, there were so many pieces it was so easy to get lost in the colors and details.

Comfy Christmas Chic

Madewell Sweater, F21 Scarf, J. Crew Edie Purse, AG Jeans, Lucky Flats

Comfy Christmas Chic. Something CK and I love about Christmas is opening presents in our PJ’s, but it’s likely that you’ll venture outside the confines of your home this Christmas – which means you’ll need a Christmas outfit. If you don’t have to get all dolled up for a fancy soiree, take advantage of this opportunity to dress comfortable, festive and chic.

Last week CK and I visited the tree at Fashion Island. This tree is a true beauty, to me it’s like the west coast equivalent of the tree at Rockefeller Center. CK donned her most comfy, Christmas chic outfit.

A variation of the following will produce a comfortable chic Christmas…

Warm Comfortable Sweater – A wool sweater to keep you warm. Make sure it’s baggy enough to make room for the Christmas treats you’ll consume.

Festive Scarf – I’m sure you’ll peruse some holiday lights, so why not keep the festivities going with a colorful scarf that will also keep you warm.

Stretchy Festive Jeans – Colored jeans are in, so why not rock some holiday colored ones this year!

Statement Purse – Nothing says Christmas like a body ornament

Flats – With all the walking and carpet you’ll be on, make sure to pair your outfit with some cute flats. Your feet will thank you later.

Art Files – MOCA The Museum of Contemporary Art

MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art). A visit to MOCA and its surrounding’s will brighten your mood and spark the creative spirit. Carolina, being the art enthusiast she is, always serves as my guide as we make our way through the MOCA’s downtown Grand location. Although our interpretation of the art and our experience at the museum may be different, anytime either of us needs a pick me up or we need to get out of suburbia, we can always agree on an LA excursion to the museum.

If you can make the trip to LA, we highly recommend visiting the MOCA’s downtown locations for some take your breath away moments. A trip to Little Tokyo for some sushi and the Grand Central Market will make your day even brighter!
