Closet Staple: The Silk Button Up

Blythe Blouse, Necklace & Bracelet: J.Crew | Modern Bold Curve Ankle Skinny Jeans: Levi’s | Jeffrey Campbell Wedges

A silk button up is an investment piece every girl should have in their closet of staple items. Now, I know that they can be quite pricey, Equipment blouses run upwards of $200, but they’re incredibly versatile and can easily dress up or down any outfit depending on how you style it. I can honestly say that I’ve gotten every single one of my silk blouses on sale, and even managed getting this olive green J.Crew blouse for only $30. So my friends it can be done,  and I highly recommend hunting for them. They last for years and years if you take care of them well, and the quality is just so much better than their polyester counterparts.

I’ve gotten the best deal on my silk pieces by keeping an eye out for the additional percentage mark-down on sale items. If you pay attention to the seasonal sales, you’ll find that J.Crew, Club Monaco, Banana Republic and Madewell will always end a seasonal sale with an extra 30-50% off their entire sale stock. And these additional percentages translate into huge, huge savings!!!

Now, on to how you can style these beauties up. I love rolling the sleeves up on these button-ups and paring them with skirts to pull together a dressier look, or denim cut-offs for a casual brunch with my friends. Lately I’ve been tying them at the waist and rocking them with a maxi dress, or tucking them into my skinny denim jeans like I did in these photos.

  1. I LOVE my J.Crew Blythe blouses. I just put both in the cleaners and was literally sad when I dropped them off. They work so well with my wardrobe. Yours looks really good with your jeans and necklace!

  2. I love your style. I totally agree…I could live in button up blouses. I usually roll my cuffs back a couple of times then push the sleeves up to my elbows. I like the scrunchy look it gives.
I covet those wonderful shoes also.
