Bright Paints and Prints

Well, it’s been more than a week since I attended ARTSHOP, and my desire to take to the paints has not subsided. I’m telling you, I’m never as still and peaceful as I am with these paints – they’re like magic! For anyone who knows me, they know I talk a mile a minute and have difficulty focusing for more than a minute, so the paints must have some magic powers.

Lately I’ve been continuing with acrylic paint on canvas and am at the moment into creating patterns with bright paint colors. It’s actually quite funny to me that now I see so many things so very differently, I’m constantly looking around me for color, patterns and prints, and dissecting everything around me. Before, I used to like to absorb the entire look or photo, and now I find myself deconstructing it all to find inspiration. Here is another post on my painting you might enjoy!

If you haven’t tried painting try it! I was so scared to at first, scared that I’d hate everything I made or that I’d start another project and never finish it, but in the end I’m really glad I tried it. I feel like experimenting with different colors and textures, and trying things that are out of my normal comfort zone will help me make other life transitions I’m a tad bit afraid of easier.

I created this one after I was inspired by Taylor Sterling’s bright summer dress.

Here are some more close-ups of the paintings. I really enjoy layering and texturizing the pieces. There’s something so therapeutic about building layer upon layer, and color upon color. I don’t know if it will ever get old.  xoxo – Bettina

  1. Bettina I seriously love these!!!

Keep it up- you’ve really got some great work going…like I’ve said before- you’ve got a great eye for color. Fusing your already strong color palette with patterns like that is bound to make for some really beautiful pieces…

It makes me so happy to read how much you’ve enjoyed painting and are continuing your work!
